Episode 2: Interview with Frank Boykin
Frank Boykin is a community partner at the addiction center and was an integral part in the formation of the alliance between Emory Healthcare and the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. Frank walks us through the events that took place leading up to the partnership. He also discusses his personal experience as the father of someone with a substance use disorder.
Episode 3: Interview with Dr. John Kelly
Dr. Kelly is a Professor of Psychiatry in Addiction Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is the first endowed professor of addiction medicine at Harvard. He is also the founder and director of the Recovery Research Institute at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and the associate director of the Center for Addiction Medicine at MGH. Dr. Kelly discusses current research trends in addiction, specifically in stigma of substance use disorders.
Episode 4: Interview with Taylor Peyton, MPH
Taylor is the Assistant Director of the Opioid Abatement Fund at the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD). Taylor shares about her role in disseminating the opioid abatement funds across the state of Georgia to aid those affected by opioid use disorder. Taylor also shares her personal story of addiction and recovery.
Episode 5: Interview with Dr. Louisa Martin and Bridget Petrillo, CRNA
Louisa and Bridget share their personal journey of recovery and the effect their addiction had on their ability to practice nursing anesthesia. Louisa and Bridget are both part of the wellness committee with the American Association of Nurse Anesthetist (AANA). They travel around the country educating healthcare professionals of the impact stigma of substance use disorder and how it serves as a major barrier to receiving care.
Episode 6: Interview with Dr. Kevin Doyle
Dr. Doyle is a counselor educator and higher education administrator who was named the President/CEO of the Hazelden Betty Ford Graduate School in January 2022. Dr. Doyle discusses his journey in professional counseling and higher education. He also discusses the degree offered at the graduate school, a Master’s Degree in Addiction Counseling.
Episode 7: Interview with Jenni Scott, LCSW and Amy Anderson, MA, LADC
Jenni is the Director of Family Services at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation (HBFF). She oversees family programming both in and out of treatment at HBFF. Amy is a Family Services Professional at HBFF. She shares her experience in direct care of those with substance use disorders.
